John Marshall Law School was founded in 1933 with a primary purpose of providing quality legal education to a large and significantly underserved segment of society. For the past 70 years, John Marshall reached out to the older student, the working professional seeking part‑time study, the minority student, and the student motivated by the love of learning and the majesty of the law. Today, the school remains true to its original mission in all of its programs and policies, while at the same time providing opportunities for those seeking full‑time course of study in an urban setting.

The Juris Doctor program at John Marshall Law School, Atlanta, is designed to foster intellectual and practical skill development among students with an emphasis on analytical writing skills and problem solving techniques. The goal of the degree program is to produce highly competent and skilled practicing lawyers who are knowledgeable of and committed to adherence to the highest professional and ethical standards in the legal profession. Our graduates are inculcated with those skills and values deemed important by the legal profession and are committed to representing people and solving their everyday legal problems. The program of study is available in a variety of scheduling options thus allowing students to pursue their career goals on a full or part‑time basis with courses being offered in both the day and the evening hours.

Since its founding, the Law School has educated thousands of successful practicing attorneys in the State of Georgia. Graduates of the school serve in a variety of roles expected of attorneys from private practitioners in large and small firms to public service lawyers in government offices throughout the State. Numerous graduates have distinguished themselves as members of the judiciary in the state of Georgia while others have devoted themselves to public service through seeking and winning elective public office. The history of John Marshall Law School, Atlanta, is long and illustrious. We are committed to maintaining our role in the legal community of Georgia and to providing a sound program of high quality legal education to individuals throughout the Southeast.
